Dear Readers,
First, I would like to welcome everyone to the first edition of Anthropos, the Anthropology department E-Publication. Anthropos has been a large endeavor, which could not have been possible without the support of the Emory Anthropology Department and the Emory Anthropology Student Society. When I was selected to be the Editor in Chief, I was absolutely terrified of the task I had been given. This is because Anthropos did not exist, there was no website, no academic papers to publish, no staff, there was only an idea: to have a place where undergraduate students could have their papers published. With that idea alone, I was in charge of creating this entirely new publication. You can see why I was nervous.
So the first thing I did was gather a staff of wonderful individuals that I knew were just as dedicated to the success and the creation of the publication. I don’t think that any of us really had a clue of how to go about this task, but we learned. Over the past three months we built Anthropos into the publication that you are all reading today. I am extremely proud of all the work that has been done to make this idea become a reality. My goal for Anthropos is to continue to grow and to be a place where students can publish their works. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy the inaugural publication of Anthropos.
All the Best,
Katherine E. Cooper
Editor in Chief of Anthropos
